The future red-red state government wants to revise the municipal constitution of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and strengthen citizen participation in decisions in their living environment. Children and young people should also be given more opportunities to have a say, said the incumbent Prime Minister Manuela Schwesig (SPD) on Thursday evening in Schwerin after the seventh round of coalition negotiations with the left. Later this year, a municipal summit will discuss future cooperation between the state and municipalities. In the future, there should be a “coordinating framework” for the organization of local public transport and digitization. So far there had been criticism that there was no controlling hand in these areas.
