Hello Egbert, you address the biggest problem that Chromebooks currently have. Many common programs do not run on it in the original. Unfortunately, as of December 2020, LibreOffice is also included. Alternatives would be Microsoft 365 (paid) in a not-so-pretty mobile version, WPS Office (paid) or Google Docs. Your daughter should also be able to create Office documents and edit others with it. However, it can happen that documents that she receives from her school may not be displayed 1 to 1 in the same formatting. Chromebooks always require a bit of tinkering, sometimes with slight downsides. It becomes critical when the school demands the use of other learning programs for which there is no alternative. If not, I'd say your daughter can do 90% of what her classmates can with a Chromebook. If you want maximum compatibility and the security that the necessary apps will also run securely, you might be better off using a Windows notebook. Before there are tears under the Christmas tree at the end. 😉 Greetings Juergen
