The National Ethics Committee is clearly in favor of vaccination. The NEK has a moral obligation to also consider the social consequences when making a personal vaccination decision. Specifically: What are the consequences of one’s own vaccination decision for society? "In this sense, the ethics committee has expressed the hope that as many people as possible will be vaccinated," says Büchler. In order to get more people to vaccinate, one thing is needed above all: education. "It needs targeted communication with people who have concerns about the vaccination."
In general, Büchler is very concerned about the tendencies towards division in society. Incomprehension, even anger, is quite understandable when people want to counteract the annoying pandemic with the vaccination - and others are just not ready to do so. But a division between the vaccinated and the unvaccinated does not help to solve the pressing problems in society.
