The goal: new fertility
You don't have to know more about the plot.Only that: the search for life is extremely urgent.Because people have become incapable of fertilizing when relocating.Now everyone hopes that reproduction is still possible on the flooded earth.Everything else would mean extinction.
No question: “Tides” negotiates existential questions on both an ecological and anthropological level.Which does not mean that the film is overloaded with messages.Tim Fehlbaum emphasizes: «This is the great thing about science fiction: In an excessive setting, you can tell of current things without having to do it with the index finger.»
It lurks
“Tides” is a dystopia, but primarily an adventure film: the young heroine soon comes across survivors.There will be dangers, surprises, exams.The poor remaining on Earth have split up in camp.At some point it also turns out what has become of the lost first mission.
The outstanding feature of the film is the aesthetics that incorrect tree has produced with as few computer animations as possible: was filmed (between ebb and flood) on the Wadden Sea and in a large studio hall of the Bavaria.Supported by a very present and expressive sound design, everything seems much more expensive than it actually was.
Freude am Handwerk

Although, just: “Tides” is not a film of the messages.“Tides” is also not a pessimistic, dark film, but an invitation to a fantastic universe.A film that also conveys the joy of the craft of filmmaking.
Tim Fehlbaum has invested a lot of passion in this project.You can also see that from the finished film: there is at least as much passion in it as water.
